Black Cherry
This cherry tree is native to eastern North America. It can be identified by its broken, dark grey to black bark. It may live up to 200 years and can produce fruit from 10 -180 years. When the foliage is wilted, it is poisonous for animals. Cherry wood is very popular in cabinet and furniture making, especially for its veneer. The fruit can be used for wine and jelly.
